Your Income
More control, more independence, potential for very attractive compensation.

If you're willing to put in a lot of hours and hard work during your first few years, the rewards can be well worth it!

To keep you motivated during your first year we've developed a unique first-year compensation package. Received a salary as you study and train, and earn commissions, new account and milestone bonuses as you build a business. Learn more about our compensation for new IRs. Legally, an Financial Advisor cannot earn sales commissions until he or she has completed the prescribed training period. At Edward Jones, this means you must have successfully completed the Study for Success programs as well as the 90 Days IDA required training days, received your can-sell date and successfully completed our Evaluation/Graduation. Once you have received your can-sell date, you are eligible to earn commissions.

In your early months as an Financial Advisor, you are unlikely to earn large net commissions. Significant financial rewards typically come after months of making enough quality contacts and sales presentations to develop a client base. And after your first 12 selling months, we offer you an ongoing compensation package that pays you in five different ways:
  • Commissions based on your sales
  • Trimester bonuses available to every Financial Advisor who achieves specific profitability thresholds and runs an ethical business (assuming that the firm is profitable)
  • Profit sharing
  • Incentive travel opportunities
  • And the potential to become a partner in the firm
If you work hard, work smart and always put the client first, the sky is the limit.

Your Earnings vs. Edward Jones Financial Advisor Earnings

The following table displays your income over the next fifteen years in comparison to an Edward Jones Financial Advisor's annual compensation. Because each Edward Jones Financial Advisor controls their own compensation, we've compared your income with three levels of Financial Advisor's sales performance:

Level 1: 125%+ of expected production
Level 2: 100 - 125% of expected production
Level 3: 75 - 100% of expected production

The amount shown in the "Cumulative Difference" column represents the difference over time in what you would earn in your current position (based on the figures you entered) versus the average earnings of an Edward Jones Financial Advisor. The figure in the highlighted box indicates the first year in which the cumulative difference is positive.

The earnings amounts shown above reflect actual earnings of full-time Edward Jones Financial Advisors for the years 2000 to 2004. The total earnings figures include sales commissions, profitability bonuses, profit sharing, the value of incentive trips and base salary only for those in the first year of selling. Your projected future earnings (for your current position) are based on your reported earnings, hypothetical salary increases and hypothetical inflation rates. A variety of factors could impact the accuracy of these projections. Your projected earnings as an Edward Jones Financial Advisor reflect the past aggregate earnings of other Financial Advisors. This does not constitute a guarantee of your actual earnings if you become an Edward Jones Financial Advisor.
