A successful applicant can expect to go through a number of the following steps in the hiring process. Edward Jones hiring specialists evaluate applicants at each stage to determine whether they qualify to continue in the process. Most of this evaluation process occurs via telephone.


Stage 1: Completed POP assessment or call us

Stage 2: Completed application
Due to industry regulations and our own strict selection criteria, our application requests a great deal of information. You will need to complete the application fully. To do so will require some of your time and you will need personal history and work experience details on hand. You may access the application three ways:
Stage 3: Hiring Specialist reviews application (if approved)
Once we receive your completed application, a Hiring Specialist will review it and decide whether or not you will proceed to the next stage. Our hiring process is extremely selective. On average, seven per cent of those who apply are hired as Investment Representatives
Stage 4: Phone interview (if approved)
If you are selected to move forward, you will be contacted in order to set up a first interview, which is conducted by phone. This interview lasts on average 30 to 45 minutes. Following this interview, a decision will be made as to whether you will advance in our selection process.
Stage 5: Potential Edward Jones market area confirmed
If you are selected to proceed, the next step will be to decide, if hired, where you would like to build your Edward Jones business. Edward Jones associates will discuss with you the areas we have identified for growth and will assist you as you near a decision regarding the market in which you would like to build your Edward Jones business. We will ask you to visit the markets you are considering.
Stage 6: Field exercise – complete financial surveys in your local market
Upon final market selection, you will be required to conduct face-to-face surveys unrelated to Edward Jones at residences and businesses. Conducting the surveys will allow you to experience one aspect of the work of an Edward Jones Investment Representative.
Stage 7: Face-to-face interview (if approved)
Following the field exercise, you will complete a face-to-face interview with a member of our hiring team.
Stage 8: Hiring specialists conduct final evaluation of candidate and determine whether to extend offer.
After the face-to-face interview, we will review all information gathered on your behalf, including the results of an industry mandated background check.
Stage 9: Edward Jones extends offer via phone call
Should an offer of employment be extended to you, a Hiring Specialist will contact you to inform you of the available training class start dates.
Stage 10: Candidate accepts offer by completing offer paperwork
Stage 11: Congratulations!
